Is the New York Sightseeing FLEX Pass worth it?

My experience

Is the FLEX Pass worth it?

For me, the New York Sightseeing FLEX Pass is the second best attraction-based sightseeing pass. It’s good, but if you want to take a boat tour to the Statue of Liberty, the ? Explorer Pass New York is better. It is a little cheaper and includes at least the same portfolio.

Therefore: you definitely won’t go wrong with the New York Sightseeing FLEX Pass, but take a look at both in my table for New York Pass comparison.

Example calculation

Even if the attractions you want to visit in New York don’t include the most expensive individual tickets and in my case there are only 5, you’ll save just under $50 per person – good, right?

How does the New York Sightseeing FLEX Pass work?

The principle of the attractions pass is very simple and straightforward:

  • Step 1: You decide how many attractions you would like to visit with the Flex Pass (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 or 12 attractions – you can decide on the spot).
  • Step 2: You book the pass online (this is the cheapest option) and …
  • Step 3: … receive your booking confirmation and personal Sightseeing Flex Pass number by email
  • Step 4: You can save this in the Sightseeing Pass app or simply print it out
  • Step 5: When you start your sightseeing tour in New York, show your sightseeing pass as a printed version or in the app at the ticket counter of the attraction
  • Step 6: The pass is scanned there and you receive your admission ticket.

Which attractions you visit doesn’t matter to the Flex Pass – only how many attractions you visit counts (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 or 12).

What I like about the FLEX Pass

  • flexible vacation planning
  • over 100 TOP attractions to choose from
  • Hop-on Hop Off bus routes included
  • Boat tours are included
  • You don’t have to decide which attractions you want to see, just how many (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 or 12)
  • Uncomplicated and quick admission to attractions

I don’t like that

  • Recently, the boat tour to the Statue of Liberty is no longer included

What is the alternative to the New York Sightseeing FLEX Pass?

A really good alternative is the Explorer Pass New York, which works in the same way but includes the boat tour to the Statue of Liberty. Another alternative is the CityPASS New York, which only has a small portfolio but is very much tailored to first-time visitors.

To make it easier for you to decide and compare which of the three attraction-based passes is better for you, I have compared them here.
