What is the I Amsterdam Card?

The I Amsterdam Card is one of three attraction passes for Amsterdam and by far the best savings option of all (here you can see all Amsterdam City Cards in comparison). Because with the I Amsterdam Card you have the choice of 70+ attractions and you can visit as many attractions as you want or can manage!

The more of Amsterdam’s sights you visit per day, the more you save!

The I Amsterdam City Card is available for 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours. It is activated as soon as you use it for the first time. It is then valid for as long as you have booked it. The good thing about it is that it is also valid for multiple days: for example, if you use it on Friday at 5 pm, it is your admission ticket to the attractions until Saturday at 4.59 pm.

Which attractions are included in the I Amsterdam Card?

With the I amsterdam City Card, you can plan your own personalised tour with your personal selection of the most important sights. Because you can actually visit every important and beautiful attraction, museum or tour with it. Here are a few examples:

The simple rule of thumb is: The more expensive the single ticket for the attraction is and the more attractions you visit, the more worthwhile the I Amsterdam Card is for you.

When is the I Amsterdam Card not worth it?

The I Amsterdam Card is not worthwhile if you only want to visit one or two attractions. Then it’s better for you to book the tickets individually.

How does the I Amsterdam Card work?

The name already suggests it: as with the all-you-can-eat principle, you can visit as many attractions as you like with the I Amsterdam Card. Here I show you how the I Amsterdam Card works:

  • Step 1: You decide on the number of full sightseeing days (1, 2, 3 or 5 days)
  • Step 2: You buy the Pass online (this is best done here) …
  • Step 3: … and receive your confirmation by email
  • Step 4: Present this at the ticket counters of the attractions in Amsterdam, it will be scanned and you will be granted access to the attraction.
  • Step 5: This continues until the days you booked in step 1 have elapsed.

What I like

  • Largest selection of TOP attractions of all sightseeing passes for Amsterdam
  • Local public transport included
  • Highest savings possible, already with 2-3 attractions per day
  • Easy handling with the app
  • Lots of additional information about Amsterdam’s attractions

What I don’t like

  • There are no discounts for children

What is the alternative to the I Amsterdam Card?

If you are only interested in individual sights in Amsterdam, you can also simply buy the tickets individually.

My tip: make sure you do this before you visit Amsterdam. This will definitely save you time at the attractions (because you already have your ticket) and they are often cheaper than if you buy them on the spot.
